Kathy Ireland Home Offers Once Upon a Christmas Dinnerware for 2014

Kathy Ireland Home has expanded into the Holiday Dinnerware market with her Once Upon a Christmas dinnerware pattern.

This Holiday dinnerware is crafted in stoneware and includes jolly images of Santa with his bag of toys in a winter wonderland in the country.

The dinnerware trim on the plates and mugs is a green and red peppermint stripe that accents the plates and ties it into the colors of the season.

It really is put together very well and the dinnerware and decor pieces can stand only and work perfectly as a stunning place setting for your main dinner table or for the kids table for Christmas.

What is really special about Kathy Ireland's Once Upon a Christmas collection is that the decor and accent pieces bring back found Christmas memories from childhood.

The Candy Bowl would be great by itself but with Santa perched on the rim he reminds boys and girls of all ages that Santa is watching and taking one piece of candy is fine but there is no need to be greedy and take it all!

The Cookies for Santa plate also shares a Santa figurine and the candy cane trim, that ensures that Santa won't miss the cookies. It just is a simple yet adorable piece.

Even the Treat Jar has those little accent that makes it special and makes it fun for children to investigate to see if Grandma has made a fresh batch of holiday cookies or candies.

The Kathy Ireland Home - Once Upon a Christmas dinnerware collection is an impressive foray into the dinnerware space and with the attention to detail and adorable images put into this collection we have a feeling it won't be her last.

So if you are looking for festive holiday mugs, a cookies for Santa plate, accent serving bowls to your holiday party or a complete table setting for Christmas, then the Once Upon a Christmas collection may just be the first and last place you need to look.

Shop Kathy Ireland's Once Upon a Christmas dinnerware & decor collection now.

Nikko Christmastime and Happy Holidays Retired

My Christmas in July post is early and seems a little bittersweet as I learned that Nikko Christmastime and Nikko Happy Holidays patterns have been retired.

If you have either of these dinnerware patterns, now may be the best time to get a few extra place settings, serving bowls, accent pieces and tableware accessories for your Christmas dinner table, because as each month goes by there will be less and less available.

As to why Nikko is discontinuing Christmastime and Happy Holidays, I don’t know. The answer could range from to many Christmas tree patterns, decreasing year over year sales, changing tastes or they have a new holiday dinnerware pattern they think will do better.

Let’s review these Nikko patterns.
Nikko Happy Holidays
Before Christmastime, there was Happy Holidays uses a classic Holiday image with a traditional Victorian period Christmas Tree in the center. Nikko Happy Holidays uses a traditional round plate shape and has a swirl around the lip of the plate that gives it a casual feel and directs your attention to the tree. Happy Holidays pattern was released in 1986 and retired in 2014. The success of Happy Holidays led to the introduction of Nikko Christmastime.

Happy Holidays offers place settings, tableware accessories, yearly collector’s plates, platters and mugs. Nikko Happy Holidays dinnerware is still available but stock is expected to sell out as we approach the holiday season.

October Happy Holidays Stock Update:
In stock - 12 Piece Placesettings, Sugar & Creamer, Collector's Plates, Oval Platter, Mugs, Gravyboat, Vegetable Bowl, Dinner Plates and a few other items.

Nikko Christmastime
A classic Holiday pattern with a traditional Victorian period Christmas Tree in the center and a unique octagon shape. It is often referred to as the Nikko Christmas pattern. This pattern was released in 1991 as Nikko pattern number #259 and retired in 2014.

Christmastime offers place settings, tableware accessories, yearly collector’s plates, platters and mugs that all use the octagon shape. Nikko Christmastime dinnerware is still available but stock is expected to sell briskly as others learn about the pattern retirement.

October Christmastime Stock Update:
Key Items Still in Stock - Sugar & Creamer, Collector's Plates, Oval Platter, Teapot, Mugs, Luncheon Plate, Vegetable Bowl and a few other items. We have sold out of place settings.

Nikko Christmas Accessories & Tableware
With both patterns using the same Christmas Tree image, Nikko created table accent pieces, décor and tableware that would work with both patterns. These items are being retired as well.

Here are a variety of Nikko Christmas Accessories still available. The accessories we expect to sell out first include Nikko Christmas Heart Shaped Dish, Napkin Rings, Glassware and the Pie Plate. Basically, it is recommended that is you like the pattern and want an item try to purchase it now while it is in stock and on sale!

Please note Nikko Christmas, Christmastime and Happy Holidays items mentioned in this post were in stock at the time of the writing of blog. Dr. Dinnerware cannot guarantee that they we be available at the time of your reading of this post.

This year Christmas in July means more than just being reminded that Christmas is 5 months away, but it means that if you like either of these Nikko patterns you need to shop now or just let these dishes become found memories. #NikkoChristmas, #NikkoChristmastime #NikkoHappyHolidays

Old Country Roses Dinnerware Spotted in Hogsmeade - Wizarding World of Harry Potter

In a recent trip to Orlando, we visited the Village of Hogsmeade and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. What a fun time with the family and we can't wait to come back when the new Diagon Alley and Hogwarts Express rides are up and running.

Madame Puddifoots at Hogsmeade WWHP Orlando
While exploring Hogsmeade a new shop caught my eye that I didn't remember from before Madame Puddifoot's. In the Harry Potter books, I think they go here for tea and baked goods while in the village. As it turns out, this shop was recently added as they moved other storefronts from Hogsmeade to Diagon Alley.

Sorry about the pictures, it was really bright outside and it was tough to get some without reflections.

Royal Albert's Old Country Roses in the Center
Anyways, while looking in the windows I could help crack a smile when I saw several Old Country Roses plates and cups in the cupboard (right there in the center) and then a few retired pieces of Old Country Roses Chintz displayed on the table.

These Royal Albert patterns fit perfectly in the store and meet the expectations of what I would expect in Madame Puddifoot's store. There was also a giant stacked tower of tea cups on the table and there must be over 30 different tea cups in the stack.

Retired Pattern Old Country Roses Chintz
I recognized a few but couldn't identify all of them, however my pictures of the tea cup stack didn't turn out so I will get it next time I visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Hogsmeade.

I must say though for a tiny little shop, they did manage to put a lot of tea cups and dishes into the store. Sadly, it isn't one you can walk in an look around but it was fun to see none the less.

Anyways if you are a fan of Harry Potter and Royal Albert's Old Country Roses pattern I think you will find this storefront enjoyable as well.

For those that enjoy and own Old Country Roses dinnerware be sure to Dinnerware Depot to view all the Old Country Roses products as well as the New Country Roses patterns. #oldcountryroses #hogsmeadeorlando #wwhp #dinnerwarefun #royalalbert

Lenox Announces Dinnerware & China Pattern Retirements

The three words you don't want to read once you have selected your China or Dinnerware pattern; "China Pattern Retired."

Lenox has announced new china and dinnerware pattern retirements and here is what it means to you.

1. Better Prices Now
Often the reason it is being discontinued is that it wasn't selling well enough. So in order to move the inventory that is sitting on the shelves, Lenox discontinues the pattern and drops the price to move it. The result is Better Prices for those Lenox patterns now.

2. Stock Up on Basics
If you like your pattern, now is the time to purchase extra place settings, mugs and serving bowls. The basic dinner pieces are likely to get used and one or two might get chipped or broken over the years, plus if you have 10 or 12 people over for a dinner event rather than 8 it is always nice to have the extra dishes.

3. Fill in Key China Pieces
Are there key items you have substituted during a holiday dinner, that you would be nice to have in you china pattern? Then consider getting those items now, because these get much harder to find once they sell out. The table essentials that come to mind are gravy boats, platters and covered bakers that match your pattern. The key is to add the most used items first and then layer on the occasionally used items if you have a need for them.

4. When They are Gone, They are Gone
The big downside to retirement is that if you didn't know about the retirement or are low on funds to add to your Lenox pattern, the deals only last as long as the stock does. While some patterns might take 12 months to clear out inventory other pattern key items could be gone within weeks. If there is something you know you would like, maybe now is a good time to let people know that a few china pieces, nudge, nudge, would make a great Christmas gift.

Here is the List of Lenox Retired China & Dinnerware PatternsSavings on these retired China Patterns can be up to 65%

1. Lenox Apropos China Pattern
2. Lenox Aspen Ridge Dinnerware

Fiesta Lapis Color Wheels

Want to know what Fiesta Lapis looks like next to Shamrock, Scarlet or Sunflower?

Well DinnerwareUSA took the idea of a color wheel and laid out all of the current Fiestaware colors, except white, ivory and black, around a blue Lapis Fiesta cereal bowl. They put together the three color groups and took pictures. The results of the Fiesta Lapis Color Wheels are below.

The First Lapis Color Wheel consists of Lemongrass, Sunflower, Tangerine, Plum, Cobalt, Peacock, Turquoise and Shamrock.

The blues and brights (Lemongrass, Sunflower and Tangerine) all look great with Lapis, Shamrock is good but not my favorite and Plum was my least favorite in this group. At least when looking at a just the two colors, however if you mix in other colors it can work.

The Second Fiesta Lapis Color Wheel consists of Turquoise, Flamingo, Scarlet, Paprika, Tangerine, Sunflower, Lemongrass and Shamrock. The Fiesta Flamingo pops with Lapis but it made me think of candy, kids parties and bubble gum. Scarlet and Lapis made me think of Americana and Nautical looks and by adding white the look is complete. The last new color in this wheel was Paprika and when it is placed next to Lapis it invokes a fall, lodge and rustic look.

The Third Lapis Color Wheel removed the bright colors from the mix which then gave the colors a different feeling. Colors included Cobalt, Plum, Shamrock, Paprika, Scarlet, Flamingo, Turquoise, and Peacock.

By mixing in Fiesta neutrals like White, Ivory and Black, Lapis can work with all of this colors and allow you to create unique and dynamic table settings.

Recently retired Fiestaware colors:
Marigold - This rich yellow pops on Fiesta Lapis
Chocolate - Blue and brown works together, but I favor Paprika and Lapis over Chocolate based on Chocolate's deep saturation.

Fiesta Lapis is a wonderful color that works with just about every Fiesta color and adds a nice denim blue color to the Fiesta line up.

If you are looking to buy Fiesta dinnerware online, we suggest DinnerwareUSA a Fiesta only store that sells Fiestaware dishes from Homer Laughlin & Company and licensed Fiesta products including linens, flatware and more.

Flamingo Fiesta Pictures - Our Favorite Fiestaware Pics from Photo Shoot

Each year when Fiesta launches a new color, DinnerwareUSA like to do a photo shoot and fun pictures with the new color and turn it into a video.

Last year, Fiesta released Flamingo Fiestaware which is lovely pink the works with variety of retired and current Fiesta colors. We used a variety of Fiesta dishes and mixed and match color schemes, so you can see the various color assortments that work together.

Just over a month ago Dinnerware USA launched it's Fiestaware Pinterest page and some of the most popular pins have been those from the Flamingo Fiesta photo shoot. We didn't think we would have a need for these Fiesta dinnerware pictures, but rather than us decide which ones you might want to pin we decided to post them so you can select your favorite Flamingo Fiesta pics.

Square Fiesta Plates & Mug - This Fiesta grouping really pops and makes for a vibrant table.
Colors Shown: Turquoise Fiesta, Flamingo Fiesta & Lemongrass Fiesta

A Romantic Fiestaware setting - Scarlet Fiesta, White Fiesta and Flamingo Fiesta
Use neutrals like black and white to break up similar colors and make them stand out.

Sometimes we are surprised by how different Fiesta colors work with each other, this is a good example. Fiestaware with Fiesta Tumblers - Flamingo Fiesta, Sunflower Fiesta, Shamrock Fiesta, Plum Fiesta, Lemongrass Fiesta. In the background are various Fiesta Tervis Tumblers

Mix different plates sizes and Black Fiesta, Flamingo Fiesta, Ivory Fiesta and Turquoise Fiesta for a cool yet colorful combination.

Stackable Small Pie Bakers, Fiesta Bouillon Bowl and a Flamingo Disc Pitcher - Lots of great colors working together. Tangerine, Lemongrass, Turquoise, Sunflower and Flamingo Pitcher

Fiestaware Plates, Salt Shaker, Medium Fiesta Vase with Tervis Tumblers - Flamingo Fiesta, Sunflower Fiesta, Shamrock Fiesta, Plum Fiesta, Lemongrass Fiesta in the background is a Fiesta Tervis Tumblers

This is a Fiesta Color stack from our Fiesta warehouse. Really liked how the random mix of colors came together so well.

We hope you enjoy our Fiesta Photo Gallery featuring fun color combinations of Fiestaware. New photos and links will be added from time to time as Fiesta releases new colors and when we aren't busy filling Fiesta dinnerware orders in the warehouse.
