Warmer weather, more sunshine and the first blooms of spring are here and with that, comes new growth and change. One of the biggest changes in nature is the caterpillar weaving their cocoon and then later coming out as a glorious butterfly.
The metamorphosis is inspiring and the freedom of a butterflies first flight is breathtaking as the gentle flutter of its wings allow it to soar and fly through the air. Few species capture our imagination this unique way, but the butterfly with its beauty and grace does.
Inspired by watching a butterfly pass before me on the way to my car, I started thinking about dinnerware patterns utilize butterflies and decided to review and showcase some our favorite and unique butterfly dinnerware patterns for you. View our Butterfly Inspiration Dinnerware graphic with almost 20 different dinnerware patterns and decor lines.
In addition to the beauty of the patterns, I was surprised by the number and visual difference I found. Sometimes you don't realize how many options exist when you are surrounded by them everyday! Here are some of our favorites.
Butterfly Meadow by Lenox
Butterfly Meadow is the most popular casual dinnerware pattern in the US. Its design mixes garden flowers and butterflies in a springtime image that has lasting appeal. The Butterfly Meadow pattern has been so successful that additional Butterfly Meadow patterns have been added to compliment the original design. In addition there is Butterfly Meadow Flatware, Glassware, Serveware and Kitchen Accessories.
Christian Lacroix Butterfly Parade
From what I have seen, no single pattern showcases more butterflies than Butterfly Parade. The dessert plate alone has over 35 different butterflies and each piece whether plate, bowl, teapot or vase is a celebration of the butterfly. My personal favorite piece is the Butterfly Parade teapot as the shape and the butterflies make it visually stunning.
Arthur Court Butterfly Collection
Looking for a winged butterfly pitcher that is reminiscent of the 1920's, an enchanting butterfly tray or butterfly salad tongs, well Arthur Court has them and more in their hand-cast aluminum Butterfly Collection. Stunning pieces that work together or can stand alone as a signature piece.
Star Home Juliet
These beautiful pieces are both delicate yet strong. While an individual butterfly is delicate, when you connect the butterflies together in a lattice style you get a supporting structure that is strong and beautiful at the same time. Star Home's butterfly collection includes bowls, trays and a butterfly vase.
Versace Butterfly Garden
Versace's Butterfly Garden pattern has a mix of bold butterfly pieces, where the butterflies are big and bold, and softer pieces like the dinner plate where the butterflies mix into the border of the plate. Each piece of Butterfly Garden has exquisite details that will give you enjoyment every time it graces your table. A full table setting is truly inspiring to behold and one guests will remember. Accent pieces for Versace's Butterfly Garden include vases, trays and a candy dish are equally impressive and remind me of museum quality pieces.
Mottahedeh Golden Butterfly
Looking for a more stately butterfly design, than Mottahedeh's Golden Butterfly may be for you. This regal design is strong, formal and focused. While most butterfly dinnerware patterns focus on butterflies in the daylight, this pattern highlights the beauty of the butterfly at night, hence the golden butterfly on a cobalt blue background. This pattern has deeper meaning too, as the golden butterfly is a sign of happiness and that is something to be shared with friends and family at every meal.
These are just a few of our favorite butterfly dinnerware and decor items, visit our web page to view all of our Butterfly Dinnerware & Decor that are sure to inspire you and your guests.
If you are one who enjoys the inspiration and beauty of the butterfly, we hope these pieces warm your heart. If you are looking to purchase these pieces or want to see more butterfly dinnerware than visit DinnerawareDepot.com.

Lenox Announces Dinnerware & China Pattern Retirements
The three words you don't want to read once you have selected your China or Dinnerware pattern; "China Pattern Retired."
Lenox has announced new china and dinnerware pattern retirements and here is what it means to you.
1. Better Prices Now
Often the reason it is being discontinued is that it wasn't selling well enough. So in order to move the inventory that is sitting on the shelves, Lenox discontinues the pattern and drops the price to move it. The result is Better Prices for those Lenox patterns now.
2. Stock Up on Basics
If you like your pattern, now is the time to purchase extra place settings, mugs and serving bowls. The basic dinner pieces are likely to get used and one or two might get chipped or broken over the years, plus if you have 10 or 12 people over for a dinner event rather than 8 it is always nice to have the extra dishes.
3. Fill in Key China Pieces
Are there key items you have substituted during a holiday dinner, that you would be nice to have in you china pattern? Then consider getting those items now, because these get much harder to find once they sell out. The table essentials that come to mind are gravy boats, platters and covered bakers that match your pattern. The key is to add the most used items first and then layer on the occasionally used items if you have a need for them.
4. When They are Gone, They are Gone
The big downside to retirement is that if you didn't know about the retirement or are low on funds to add to your Lenox pattern, the deals only last as long as the stock does. While some patterns might take 12 months to clear out inventory other pattern key items could be gone within weeks. If there is something you know you would like, maybe now is a good time to let people know that a few china pieces, nudge, nudge, would make a great Christmas gift.
