Nikko Christmastime and Happy Holidays Retired

My Christmas in July post is early and seems a little bittersweet as I learned that Nikko Christmastime and Nikko Happy Holidays patterns have been retired.

If you have either of these dinnerware patterns, now may be the best time to get a few extra place settings, serving bowls, accent pieces and tableware accessories for your Christmas dinner table, because as each month goes by there will be less and less available.

As to why Nikko is discontinuing Christmastime and Happy Holidays, I don’t know. The answer could range from to many Christmas tree patterns, decreasing year over year sales, changing tastes or they have a new holiday dinnerware pattern they think will do better.

Let’s review these Nikko patterns.
Nikko Happy Holidays
Before Christmastime, there was Happy Holidays uses a classic Holiday image with a traditional Victorian period Christmas Tree in the center. Nikko Happy Holidays uses a traditional round plate shape and has a swirl around the lip of the plate that gives it a casual feel and directs your attention to the tree. Happy Holidays pattern was released in 1986 and retired in 2014. The success of Happy Holidays led to the introduction of Nikko Christmastime.

Happy Holidays offers place settings, tableware accessories, yearly collector’s plates, platters and mugs. Nikko Happy Holidays dinnerware is still available but stock is expected to sell out as we approach the holiday season.

October Happy Holidays Stock Update:
In stock - 12 Piece Placesettings, Sugar & Creamer, Collector's Plates, Oval Platter, Mugs, Gravyboat, Vegetable Bowl, Dinner Plates and a few other items.

Nikko Christmastime
A classic Holiday pattern with a traditional Victorian period Christmas Tree in the center and a unique octagon shape. It is often referred to as the Nikko Christmas pattern. This pattern was released in 1991 as Nikko pattern number #259 and retired in 2014.

Christmastime offers place settings, tableware accessories, yearly collector’s plates, platters and mugs that all use the octagon shape. Nikko Christmastime dinnerware is still available but stock is expected to sell briskly as others learn about the pattern retirement.

October Christmastime Stock Update:
 Key Items Still in Stock - Sugar & Creamer, Collector's Plates, Oval Platter, Teapot, Mugs, Luncheon Plate, Vegetable Bowl and a few other items. We have sold out of place settings.

Nikko Christmas Accessories & Tableware
With both patterns using the same Christmas Tree image, Nikko created table accent pieces, décor and tableware that would work with both patterns. These items are being retired as well.

Here are a variety of Nikko Christmas Accessories still available. The accessories we expect to sell out first include Nikko Christmas Heart Shaped Dish, Napkin Rings, Glassware and the Pie Plate. Basically, it is recommended that is you like the pattern and want an item try to purchase it now while it is in stock and on sale!

Please note Nikko Christmas, Christmastime and Happy Holidays items mentioned in this post were in stock at the time of the writing of blog. Dr. Dinnerware cannot guarantee that they we be available at the time of your reading of this post.

This year Christmas in July means more than just being reminded that Christmas is 5 months away, but it means that if you like either of these Nikko patterns you need to shop now or just let these dishes become found memories. #NikkoChristmas, #NikkoChristmastime #NikkoHappyHolidays

So sorry to hear....I am looking for a 2014 anniversary plate. Do you know if they made one with this being their last year? If so, where might I find one? I have been searching the internet for hours!

I also have been searching for a 2014 and cannot find if it exists.

The glaze on some of my Christmastime dishes has developed swirls. Is it safe to continue to use these plates or should they be discarded?

Downsizing and looking to sell all pieces. All items are in original boxes.
I have the following Happy Holidays pattern pieces:
1) 12 place settings (footed cup, saucer and dinner plate);
2) salt and pepper shaker;
3) mini candle lamp with candle;
4) candy basket with handle;
5) gravy boat with underplate; and
6) five piece completer set which includes sugar bowl with lid, creamer, vegetable bowl and oval platter.
Used twice since I purchased the items in 1986.
Hate to put them out in a yard sale. raimondid@bellsouth.net

I am also downsizing and have quite a few pieces of Christmastime. I have two complete 20 pc sets that include a dinner plate, soup/salad bowl, bread and butter plate, and cup and saucer. I have a third place setting that is missing one cup, but I would include another pc as a substitute (for instance, a fifth soup bowl or bread and butter plate or an extra saucer) for anyone interested. I also have a tureen, a platter, and a teapot. Let me know quickly as I plan to include them in my upcoming garage sale.

Hi Karla,

How much for the 10 3/4 inch cake stand? Also, what is your price for the three tier tray? My mother uses her set as our Christmas china and I have been helping her add to it over the years. I would love to be able to give her another piece or two for Christmas this year. Thank you!
