Where did Christmas Waechtersbach Go?

Every year manufacturers offer new dinnerware patterns and older ones are retired, however in some instances an entire range of dinnerware patterns are discontinued at once based on business decisions that are best for the business.

For Waechtersbach that business decision  was one that changed production and resulted in Waechtersbach discontinuing some of their most notable Holiday Dinnerware Patterns including:

Waechtersbach Christmas Tree
The most popular Waechtersbach Christmas pattern features a lively green Christmas tree, decorated with lights on a holiday red dinnerware. The Christmas dinnerware pattern was launched in 1992 and was retired in 2012.

We went to the official Waechtersbach web site and found no Waechterbach Christmas Tree available. However we did find limited quantities of Waechtersbach Christmas Tree mugs, trees and accessories at Waechtersbach Warehouse.

Waechtersbach also is known for whimsical red and white holiday dinnerware too and three of these popular patterns were retired this year.

Waechtersbach George and Gracie featuring Snowmen
Waechtersbach Willie and Emma featuring Reindeer
Waechtersbach Tannenbaum featuring a Christmas Tree

We searched the web for these patterns and found a few items on ebay but very little on other sites.

While we are sad that several holiday patterns have been retired, Waechtersbach does offer Waechtersbach Holiday Winter Splendor which is a red and white pattern with a variety of holiday elements.

So if you are wondering where all the Waechtersbach Christmas patterns have gone, now you know that they have been retired. The good news is some pieces are still available on web sites and others can be purchased on ebay and other replacement web sites.

Happy Holidays,

Lenox Holiday Dinnerware 2012 Patterns - Popular, Retired & Commentary

No one offers more Holiday inspired dinnerware patterns than Lenox. From their extremely popular Lenox Holiday to Chirp Scarlet to special accent plates featuring snowflakes and Christmas trees, Lenox has a dinnerware pattern for every table.

One thing I like about the Lenox Christmas and Holiday dinnerware is that, sometimes Lenox just adds a few items to an existing china pattern to make it special for the holidays or they offer a full holiday china pattern.

Lenox did not launch a new Holiday china pattern this year, but I'll share my favorites and let you know about recently retired Lenox Holiday patterns.

Lenox Chirp Scarlet
Lenox Chirp Scarlet. I you own Lenox Chirp china, you'll love this Chirp Scarlet with it's strong bold colors and tender details this holiday dinnerware clear states you are celebrating a special dinner. Offers include 4 piece placesettings, plates and bowls.

Lenox has two elegant accent plates that match other Lenox china patterns. These plates include the Lenox Federal Platinum Snowflake plate and Lenox Opal Innocence Tree Accent plate. Both plates have simple designs, but politely say Happy Holidays!

Lenox Holiday China
Lenox's most famous Holiday plate is Lenox Holiday. The Lenox Holiday pattern is a design of holly leaves and berries with gold trim. Lenox Holiday is Lenox's most popular seasonal dinnerware.

However Lenox Holiday isn't the only holiday pattern, there is Lenox Holiday Gatherings which offers both Berry and Wreath designs is a bolder alternative that still features holly and berries in the design. The Lenox Holiday Tartan design includes a tartan ribbon with colorful fruits, berries, acorns and holly.

Lenox Holiday Platinum was Retired 2011 and had a similar look of Lenox Holiday but with a platinum trim.

Lenox 12 Days of Christmas

Some of the more unique Lenox dinnerware items are in these two collections. Lenox 12 Days of Christmas which includes whimsical plates, bowls, trays and tableware that celebrates the fun in the holiday classic, 12 Days of Christmas. Lenox Holiday Illustrations is a casual set of trays, bowls and novelties with Holiday phrases and sayings often shared among friends and family. Often these special dinnerware pieces have limited production runs and sell out quickly.

You would think that would be all of the Christmas patterns, but in Lenox's case you would be wrong as there are three more Winter patterns including Winter Greetings, Winter Meadow and Winter Song.

Lenox Winter Greetings

Lenox Winter Greetings is a holiday themed pattern with holly, red and yellow bows, gold trim and garden birds with the most distinct being the red cardinal. While this pattern works for the Christmas table it also is a favorite seasonal dinnerware that seems perfect for snowy or chilly days from November through March.

Lenox Winter Meadow has lighter tones than Winter Greetings and mixes berries, holly and seasonal flowers. The lighter greens and bold flowers are a statement that there are beautiful things around us year round. The Winter Meadow collection combines a variety of soft spoken pieces that include holly to the bolder ones that showcase paper white and poinsettia pieces. This allows you to create your own unique table that you define as Winter Meadow.

Lenox Winter Song
Lenox Winter Song is another red and white dinnerware pattern while natural elements that include winter branches, berries, winter birds and more. Depending how you layout your table this dinnerware can be casual or formal. Dishes with a strong red border tend to have a formal holiday look and borderless white dishes tend to have a seasonal look, either way the look is colorful and inspiring.

Lenox excels at dinnerware with holly, berry and nature. They offer a wide array of holiday dinnerware patterns to match the casual and formal side of the holidays. Interestingly they don't offer a Christmas Tree pattern and I don't expect they will as it is just not them.

Juliska Holiday Dinnerware - Boxwood Retired and New Holiday Pattern Added

Juliska which is known for making handsome stoneware dinnerware is retiring one Holiday dinnerware pattern and adding a new one to their collection.

Juliska Ruby - Jardins Du Monde
Good news is one of Juliska's most popular patterns, Jardins Du Monde Ruby (aka Juliska Ruby), is perfect for holiday and Christmas tables, even though it is not an official Holiday dinnerware pattern.

The elegant lines of Juliska Ruby give your table a unique flair for the holidays without screaming it's Christmas. Pair Jardins Du Monde Ruby with white accents pieces and you have a stunning table setting that can be used year round.

For a really rich looking holiday table consider Juliska Pewter stoneware. This stoneware has an old world luster and creates a striking visual on a table.

Juliska Boxwood and Bow - Retired
Juliska Boxwood and Bow Dinnerware has been retired. This white dinnerware has a beautiful wreath pattern that dances around the border of the plate and is highlighted by a festive bow. The general shape, look and feel of these dinnerware pieces, gives a feel of holiday tradition even if it is the first time use these pieces.

While it is disappointing to see this pattern retired, we think the Boxwood and Bow mugs and small plates work well for any holiday event. Quantities are limited, so if you like them, buy them.

As with most companies, when one pattern or holiday product line you normally introduce a new pattern or places that can take it's places.
Juliska Country Estate Holiday

With that in mind, we introduce Juliska Country Estate Holiday, this new pattern is a perfect compliment to Juliska's Country Estate pattern, a lovely black and white English Countryside dinnerware pattern.

The new Country Estate Holiday pattern is a red and white pattern with winter images. Key dinnerware and giftware items in this collection include candle, mugs, hostess tray, large platter and handsome ornaments.

Juliska continues to create beautiful table settings and is one of my favorite dinnerware manufacturers. We hope these dinnerware patterns become holiday favorites in your home.

Happy Holidays

Cuthbertson Christmas Dishes & Glassware Options

Cuthbertson is a tradition Christmas and Holiday favorite and their best known dinnerware pattern is Original  Christmas Tree.

Today we'll review, Cuthbertson and what is available this year for your holiday table.

Original Christmas Tree by Cuthbertson
Cuthbertson Original Christmas Tree dinnerware was released in 1922 and is often referred to as the "Original." The Christmas Tree design has been since placed on many dinnerware patterns, but rarely with the same elegance and charm.

Although there are small changes to the original design, the Holiday spirit still shines through on this dinnerware.

Cuthbertson Original Christmas Tree Dickens Embossed
While the Original Christmas Tree has a clean polished looked, the Cuthbertson Original Christmas Tree Dickens Embossed dinnerware offers a more traditional look that brings back warm holiday memories. The plate's edge has a wonderful embossed pattern that makes this pattern look and feel like it is right out of a Dickens novel. This pattern is also called

Both of the Cuthbertson Christmas Tree patterns work with the Original Christmas Tree glassware which includes wine glasses, wine carafes, iced tea glasses and more.

Turkey Dinnerware
The last Cuthbertson pattern is Cuthbertson Turkey which is perfect for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner or as a festive accent plate, platter or serving dish for a holiday dinner.

All of Cuthbertson Holiday dinnerware is made in England of high quality earthenware which is chip resistant, dishwasher and microwave safe. Hand washing is recommended for all Original Christmas Tree  glassware.

Limited Stock Makes Pre-Ordering Holiday Dinnerware Smart

Just a few years ago, dinnerware manufacturers would bring in their large amounts of Holiday and Christmas dinnerware in late July and August and get it out in the stores early and shoppers could pick up favorite pieces here and there over the course of months.

Today though, we are seeing more and more dinnerware manufacturers reduce their holiday dinnerware runs and limit the production to better manage their inventory in order to reduce markdowns after Christmas.

Just last year, we had stock in almost all of our Christmas dinnerware patterns, today we several key Holiday patterns aren't expected to be in until October and we are getting feedback from our vendors that some dinnerware and tableware items have already Sold Out for 2012!

Example: Villeroy & Boch Toy's Delight
This dinnerware is expected next week but...
The Covered Butter Dish, Egg Cup Saucer, Most Dinner Plates are Already Sold Out!

We have also seen items selling out in:
Villeroy & Boch Winter Bakery Delight,
Portmeirion The Holly & The Ivy - The good news here is more is coming in.
Nikko Christmastime

So if you don't want to be one placesetting short during the holidays or resort to using the chipped teapot or gravy boat, take the time now to review your Christmas china and order your replacement and new dinnerware pieces today.

Remember it is better to order and have it rather than to be stressed during the holidays because the dinnerware you want is Sold Out! Plus now is also a great time to find special money saving deals on Holiday dinnerware and bonus offers on your Christmas china.

And while I can say I am not ready to set my Holiday table, I can say that I already have the tableware I need on order for our family's favorite holiday.

Fiesta Announces Flamingo as the New Color for 2012

Every year Homer Laughlin release a new Fiesta color and also retires one too. This year the New Fiestaware color is Flamingo!

While we were thinking something pink or plum might be coming our way, we didn't predict this hue of pink Fiesta.

Flamingo Fiesta
Flamingo is brighter and more saturated than rose, but not as bright as a watermelon or bubble gum shade of pink.

While I haven't yet seen this color in person it appears it will work well with White, Black, Cobalt Blue, Plum, Turquoise and Ivory.

I also could see a trio of Scarlet, White and Flamingo making a fun and striking place setting. I also read that Flamingo looks great with Chocolate too.

I am going to have to see what it looks like in person before I recommend any other color combinations. Check out our Flamingo Fiestaware video showing various color combinations.

If you ar interested in Flamingo Fiesta it looks like it is going on Pre-Order on May 15th and is expected to ship in mid-June 2012.

Find out more about Fiesta's newest color and order Fiestaware here.

Wedding Registry Tip - China Pattern Bonus Promotions Help Guests Give More

The Spring and Summer Wedding Season is fast approaching and many brides and grooms are visiting department and specialty shops creating their wedding registry.

With over 1,000 different china and dinnerware patterns on the market it is sometimes impossible to choose just one. However, if you have your china choices down to 2 or 3 patterns consider the ones that offer you the most value.

In many cases china manufacturers will create promo packages to boost sales, these limited time promotions offer a free soup bowl, savings or item that many couples would register for anyways so by getting in on the promo offer your guests can get more for the same amount of money and you'll have a more complete set.

In many cases, these promotions don't last all year but go through product production runs. This means that offers can end with limited or little notice.

So when you are doing your wedding registry and choosing a china and / or dinnerware pattern consider patterns you love and then look to fine special Promotions online.

Here are some examples of current promotions we found online.
Select Lenox Patterns are offering Free Pasta Bowl with 4 Piece Placesetting. We found this offer on Lenox Chirp, Butler's Pantry, as well as other Lenox China promotions.

Wedgwood China is running a promotion on select china patterns where is you buy 3 placesettings you get a fourth one free. This is a wonderful offer for couples just starting out because you can quickly receive all of your china placesettings from your guests. In addition, Wedgwood is also giving guests the option to purchase a placesetting and receive a free rim soup bowl instead. THis is nice because you can then register the offer you prefer. Wedgwood also has a flatware offer as well.

Noritake is also running a variety of china and dinnerware promotions including 50% Off 4 Piece Colorwave Place Setting's, Free Soup Bowl Promotions on select china patterns and more.

Basically what couples need to know when registering is that your guests can get a lot more china and dinnerware for less if you select the right pattern.

Another tip is to view your favorites at the store and before registering your china pattern come home and check online for special promotions. Dinnnerware Depot is a great resource and has hundreds of dinnerware patterns.

Plus they have a unique wedding registry promotion that can help new couples complete their table setting for less if you don't get everything you wished for.
