Lenox Opal Innocence the No. 1 Fine China Pattern Expands

Fine china patterns come and go but rarely does a relatively new pattern turn into the top selling fine china pattern over the course of a decade, Lenox's Opal Innocence is the exception.

So how did Opal Innocence go from just another new pattern to the top seller in just 10 years? Well the answer may as simple as simplicity.

As the glamour of the 80's and 90's faded, we were left with many designs that were very intricate and bold that often made a strong statement. Gold was a big part of these designs, but as we moved in the 2000's people wanted something different, subtle and streamlined.

Opal Innocence offered just the right balance of soft border details that pulled from the past, clean lines and silver trim that was fresh and new. The original Lenox Opal Innocence started off slow but continued to gained popularity over it's first few years and the design elements were starting to be copied by other manufactures.

Noting rivals presenting pattern styles that pulled elements from Opal Innocence and a positive sales trend, Lenox moved to expand the product in 2008, 2012 and again in 2014, each time layering on patterns that can stand alone and in some cases be mixed.

While Opal Innocence is a fine china, Opal Innocence Carved is a little more casual and used as an everyday china. Opal Innocence Scroll presented a subtle design with a gentle scroll to appeal those who want a more flair and the Opal Innocence Stripe went the other way and offered cleaner lines.

The next big change to take place was the introduction of Opal Innocence Silver which introduced the first design with a strong contrast to this china pattern. This pattern uses a gentle silver vine pattern to create a luxurious feel to the table. Some say this addition, was inspired by the success of Downton Abbey and the increased interest of the early 1900's. With Silver doing very well Lenox has introduced Opal Innocence Dune and Blue that have now added colors to this pattern.

While these new entries expand the Lenox's Opal Innocence product line it pulls it away from it's original roots of simplicity. If these new Opal Innocence patterns prove to be successful, we believe the new addition to this popular line with be a rose and light green pattern.
