In the category of "Things that make you go hmm," Lenox has announced that Butler's Pantry is being retired!
Yes the versatile pattern that could be used for everyday use as well as more formal occasions. With its fleur de lis accents, graceful scalloping and serpentine motifs, Butler's pantry became a very popular pattern.
That fact that is was dishwasher and microwave safe was an added plus mom knew that she didn't have to hand wash each piece.
Butler's Pantry was released in 2000 and became very popular very quickly, as a result Lenox quickly increased the product line. Butler's Pantry has remained popular and has been retired in 2015.
Once the announcement was made, 5 piece place settings sold briskly and Dinnerware Depot sold out of them. Dinnerware Depot still has a wide selection of Butler's Pantry dinnerware for sale at 30% off including dinner plates, mugs, bowls, medium platter and more.
However with the popularity of Butler's Pantry, we can't be sure how long we will have this dinnerware pattern for sale.

Good. Kill it off. The durability was far from what one expects from Lenox. Just read the reviews. It was something more worthy of Walmart.
was at a Lenox store in outlet near Ocean City MD and found a set my daughter loved. Talked with store clerk and she said no probem - would never be retired etc so got 2 sets and have added each year for Anniversary. Started having problems a few years ago and now - Discontinued! THEY LIED! Not very good rep for supposedly a Good Company. I am warning everyone I know to avoid Lenox!!
Do you always base your judgements so passionately solely on what you read?? Ridiculous. I OWN the Butler's Pantry collection, and it was so worth the money! Very sturdy, dishwasher friendly, and still just stunning after many uses.
I OWN a large set as well. Opinion based on actual ownership and use. Too many pieces lost to the chipping and cracking - to the point of failure in a couple of cases - that this line was prone to. Including the very expensive, serving platers!
Mentioning the number of bad reviews on the internet was showing that my experience was not just an anecdote.
On the other hand, the lack of positive reviews claiming long term durability as you feel you have gotten, is saying something as well.
And, as for "dishwasher friendly" you are rather mistaken. One of the early complaints about the Butler Pantry line was that Lenox themselves provided that many of the large pieces, platers, etc. were to be HAND WASHED and were not dishwasher safe, as the basic serving pieces had been touted.
Methinks you doth protest too much.
What are you? A Lenox troll or something?
